One thing that almost all curlies can agree on is the importance of gel. Finding the perfect gel can change up your entire hair routine faster than you can say “no-crunch styler.” In short, gel can not only extend the time between wash days, but it can also lock in moisture, knock out frizz, give amazing definition, and more!
If you have yet to dive into the world of DevaCurl gel, don’t worry. Today, we’re breaking down our three, yes three, different gels to let you know what’s so special about each one and how to apply them.
DevaCurl Light Defining Gel
Light Defining Gel is the original Deva gel and it has the lightest hold out of the three. If you’re looking for a soft hold gel that will give you frizz control and definition, this is the one for you. We normally recommend LDG (as we like to call it) for our curlies out there. Light Defining Gel is perfect for those who don’t necessarily need that extra hold but want something to define and lock in moisture. Wheat and soy protein give LDG its signature non-sticky curl cast. Once your curls are dry, simply scrunch away the cast for defined, soft curls.
DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel
Ultra Defining Gel is a strong hold gel that gives curls enhanced definition without the crunch. Ultra Defining Gel is great for wavies and super curlies looking for that extra hold and definition without weighing the hair down. Made with wheat and soy proteins. it helps hydrate and amp up shine. Talk about a win-win!
DevaCurl Light Defining Gel vs. Ultra Defining Gel
So, DevaCurl styling gel… what’s the difference? LDG is all about the soft hold, while UDG is made for strong, lasting hold. While both can be used on all curl types, Light Defining Gel is best for curly hair while Ultra Defining Gel is lightweight enough for wavy and super curly hair while adding a boost to definition that both types usually lack. In the end, though, it’s all about what kind of style you’re going for!
DevaCurl Arc AnGEL
Arc AnGEL is our strongest hold gel without the crunch. With an AMAZING citrus scent and formulated with chamomile, lemongrass, and orange peel, it keeps curls touchable soft and smooth If you have problems with your waves or curls falling loose, this one’s for you.
How to Apply Gel
- Start with SOAKING wet hair. This is important. Most stylists even recommend doing this while you’re still in the shower.
- Flip your head forward and glide on gel to make sure your curls are fully coated.
- Scrunch from the bottom and let it dry. You can either air dry or use a diffuser. Either way, make sure to not touch your curls while drying. This can cause unwanted frizz!
- Once you’re dry, flip over your head to scrunch out the gel cast. We love spraying a bit of High Shine into our palms before scrunching out the cast to ensure shiny and smooth curls all day long!
