If you have wavy hair, you know that it’s not always easy to keep your waves ultra-defined and frizz-free. Let’s get real—if you sleep the wrong way, if it rains, or even something as simple as putting on your shirt can cause you to lose major wave definition and make your locks fall flat. Today, we’re giving you the best tips on how to get the most out of your waves!
Silk Pillow Case
Most curlies can agree, sleeping on a silk pillow case is where it’s at. And it’s especially important for wavies to sleep on them too! Traditional pillow cases can tug and pull at the hair throughout the night which results in the loss of wave definition. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help alleviate that tugging and ensure you wake up with gorgeous waves!
Refresh
Refreshing wavy hair can also be a bit of a challenge. Here’s our favorite way:
- Buy a continuous spray bottle! This is key. It’s so much easier to dampen your waves with a continuous spray rather than a normal spray bottle.
- After dampening your waves, scrunch a bit of One Condition Delight into your hair to refresh and moisturize.
- If you’re still getting a bit of frizz, try taking a dime-size amount of B’Leave-In and smooth it into the roots to get rid of halo frizz.
Deep Condition
Masking with wavy hair is just as important as masking with curly hair. We recommend masking once a week but it’s all up to your personal preference and how dry your hair is. Our favorite deep conditioners for wavy hair are Deep Sea Repair and Heaven In Hair.
Scrunch
Listen up wavies, this is important. Always, always, always scrunch! No matter what. Scrunching in your products will help hold and define your waves. When your hair is wet, scrunch in your favorite stylers (like Wave Maker & Ultra Defining Gel ?) and once it dries and feels a little crunchy, scrunch again to soften the cast. This will make your waves feel soft and look defined!
Get Regular Trims
Make sure you’re on a regular trim schedule! Breakage and dryness can often look like hair that’s lost its wave but in fact, it just needs a trim. Also, trimming your locks regularly can rid the hair of extra weight that can be pulling down your waves.
