I’m just going to come right out and say it: curly hair is special. And when it comes to cleansing, conditioning, and styling our unique texture, we need special products and tools. And that goes for all curl types—wavy hair, curly hair and super curly hair. The DevaDryer and DevaFuser were created specifically for naturally curly textures (just like our entire line of sulfate, silicone, and paraben-free products). Mastering the art of blow-drying with this essential combo is key to getting the results you want every day, all day.
Why the DevaDryer & DevaFuser are a must for curly girls
Curly hair needs a dryer that’s more than just hot air, along with a diffuser that adds more body without creating a frizzy disaster. “The DevaDryer and DevaFuser is the first-ever dryer and diffuser duo for curly hair. The ionic technology provides soft, shiny, frizz-controlled curls,” says Shari Harbinger, Co-Founder of the DevaCurl Academy. The DevaDryer features 360-degree airflow with 1600-watt power that dries curls fast, (important for those with massive manes) but in a gentle way that results in healthy-looking hair with way less fluff. Choose between three heat settings and two speeds depending on what works best for your curl density and texture. Those with thick, curly hair or coarser textures can usually handle warmer air, while those with finer strands may opt for a lower setting. But one thing everyone can benefit from is the cool shot button. It hits your curls with a blast of chilly air to help seal the cuticle which help ensure serious smoothness and shine.
Clearly the DevaDryer rocks, but on its own, it’s like a PB & J sandwich without the jelly. What it needs to feel whole, my friends, is a little green tool known as the DevaFuser. This handy add-on looks very different than most attachments of its kind because it’s created just for curls. “The innovative hand shape allows the 360-degree air flow to surround curls and dry them gently but thoroughly. And, it can get right on the scalp at the crown to create extra lift,” says Shari. The patented ergonomic form also boosts body like crazy. Together, the DevaDryer and DevaFuser cut down on drying time and frizz while enhancing definition.
How to pump up the volume with your DevaDryer & DevaFuser
For curly girls, there’s one F-word that’s like music to our ears: fullness. To get more of it, first apply your stylers to your curls while they’re wet. Tilt your hair to the side and place the diffuser so the “fingertips” are at your roots. Then tilt the hand upward to lift your hair. Hold, then release. You can also cup and “scrunch” the ends of your hair toward your scalp with the DevaFuser to create more volume at the mid-lengths (always dry the crown and roots first and finish with the ends). Keep going, section by section, until your whole head is dry. You’ll be left with bodacious curls that are just begging to be selfied. BTW, if your hair is very tightly curled, using a hooded dryer is probably best to begin the drying process, but you can use the DevaDryer and DevaFuser when your curls are nearly dry to elongate or boost volume as your final step.
