Very pleased with my visit!

Service Received: DevaCut, Super Curly DevaCut

Price: $126-$175

The salon is beautiful and staff is friendly and professional. I have had Deva cuts in the past but stopped because the Deva stylist in my area are not great with tightly coiled hair. I was going to D.C. for the weekend and decided to give Diaspora a try. Yasmine asked about my current routine, products I use and explained step by step what she was doing. My hair looked and felt great when I left, and there was no pressure to purchase products (I did anyway) or reschedule my next appointment. I live 4 hours away but will do my best to return every 3 - 4 months.

My New Stylist

After trying and loving DevaCurl products, I decided to go a step further and try a Deva cut. I decided to try Yasmine since she is certified at a level 3. The salon is in a quaint part of the city that I feel safe in and the parking is easy and plentiful (you will need to pay a street meter). I am always pleasantly welcomed when I arrive and feel that my hair questions and cut desires are heard and answered perfectly. After my first cut, people NOTICED and constantly asked me about my cut and products. Even over a year and 3 Deva cuts with Jasmine later, I am still often being asked about my hair. The salon mostly markets to an ethnic hair market, but be assured that all hair textured and curls will look great when you leave.

They Made MY Curls POP!!!

SJK|March 11, 2018
Came here for one thing and left with another. And I'm happy... I actually LIKE my hair. I've had Deva Cuts at 3 other places before (DC, Rockville, PA), and I just never really care for the shapes I was given and the products used on my hair. I originally booked an appointment for a Twist- Out, but Yasmine, the stylist and owner talked me into a DevaCut. We had a nice consultation; she asked about how I usually wear my hair, the products I use, how long I've been natural, how I heard about the salon, etc. I told her I can't get a successful Wash & Go on my hair, that's why I stopped getting Deva Cuts, and she said it was because the wrong products were being used on my hair (my hair is 4B, low porosity). Yasmine cut/ trimmed my hair, then washed it, gave me a detox treatment, and set it with a product that wasn't DevaCurl. This product made my curls POP. I've NEVER seen my hair so defined. How is it that I've been to all of these different salons for curls and no one knew to tell me this information? I'm still wondering about this! No wonder I never could see "curls"... I and they weren't using products that would penetrate into my hair. I loved the end result and definitely made sure to get TWO bottles of that product that they used in my hair. Thank you, Diaspora Salon.

The Deva Cut made my hair grow

Dayshaw|February 21, 2018
At first I did not like my deva cut, I felt that it was cut a little to short, I got nice compliments about it. And as others stated I felt like Yasmine was not personable. She was nice but didn't talk to me about my curl pattern and what I should do, basically a consultation like it states they would. However, my hair did grow a lot since the Deva cut. I would like to go back to get a curly cut, but I think the price is just too much to be getting my ends clipped. It's basically the same price for the deva cut.
