Never again!!!

Service Received: DevaCut

Price: $76-$125

I left with way to much product in my hair it was so weighed down it looked terrible I never went back. The cut wasn't bad but, definitely not worth the money charged.

Fantastic First

Service Received: Super Curly DevaCut

Price: $126-$175

My first appointment with Melissa was great. She gave me a new client cut and taught me a lot. She was very patient with me and answered all my questions. As a curly girl this was the first cut I feel was done correctly. I wrote this review as I know how scary it can be trying a new stylist especially with natural curly hair. Don't hesitate give her a try.

Amazing first appt but got worse every time after

Patty|February 16, 2018
My first appointment with Melissa was a New Client Cut and Tutorial in February of 2016. I can't rave enough of how much I loved that appointment. I learned so much. I had 5 appointments after that, and they each got worse, until the last one in October of 2017. The day after the appointment when I styled it myself, I noticed the mistakes. Melissa missed an entire section of length and did not cut the interior at all. As any curly girl knows, not cutting the interior results in your hair looking like a triangle. I immediately called and emailed, but Melissa was out of town. The day after that, I was getting my hair styled for a wedding (by a different stylist). I told her "I just got a haircut and there are some mistakes, but I'm hoping to get them fixed next week." Stylist said she can't let me leave like that, and then she showed me the back of my hair. So, I asked the stylist if she could make some corrections that would at least get me through until I saw Melissa again, so she did. I went to see Melissa again the following week. She was condescending and tried to blame it on the fact that I got a blowout. "I don't cut hair for straight styles." I told her "no, it's cut wrong when it's curly too" and offered to show her the pics/video I had. She said she didn't want to see them. So, she looked at my hair but couldn't see her mistakes because the other girl already corrected it. I kept explaining to her what was wrong with it before the correction, but she wasn't understanding until I used hair stylist language and told her that she didn't cut the interior at all. She replied "oh, I like a heavy perimeter." Again, not accepting responsibility. First of all, it's not about what she likes, it's my hair. Secondly, I had already been there 5 times before, so she knows I don't like the triangle look. She trimmed a little and then asked me if I was satisfied, again in a way that was condescending and not accepting responsibility. Her face was getting red. We all make mistakes but part of that is acknowledging it. Even as I left, I still don't think she understood how bad my cut was. And refusing to look at the pictures and video confirms she didn't care. I also hesitated to write this review in case she was going through something personal which affected her work. But we all go through things, and we still have to be effective at work. The only reason I gave 2-stars instead of 1-star is because the first appointment was so good. I recommend the new client tutorial. But you can go anywhere and find someone that knows how to cut curly hair. The Devacut is nothing that extraordinary.

Transitioning back to curls

Today was my first appointment with Melissa. Thanks to her, my hair is coming back to life after a decade on straightening it. So happy I found Melissa and happy to fall back in love with my hair.
