I have super curly, out of control hair and the only way I have been able to live with it was to have Japanese straightening done annually in NYC for the past 20 years. When I heard about Fiddleheads and Beth providing DevaCuts in DC I decided to make an appointment. Actually, I made six appointments and chickened out five times. On the day of the sixth appointment I forced myself to go to Fiddleheads. I met Beth and she immediately assessed my hair. She recognized that half of my hair had Japanese straightening and half did not. She said she would have to cut off all of Japanese straightening to free my curls. I told her to go ahead and she gave me what I have learned later to know as a "big chop." Beth explained what she was doing to my hair the whole time. After the main cut I was led to the washing area to experience the no-poo cleansing and the application of conditioner. Beth showed me how much conditioner to use and be sure to leave it in. This was followed by the application of gel. Then she brought over a special hooded dryer that I sat under until my hair was dry. I went back to my original chair, sat down, and looked in the mirror. I was absolutely in LOVE with what I saw!!! I looked totally different but so much better!!! The cut was so flattering and my curls were so shiny and defined I was speechless. It was a 180 degree change in my appearance but one that I immediately embraced. I was thrilled with my new hairstyle and it was all due to Beth's thoughtful assessment and expert DevaCut skills. I am SO happy with the results I received that day and to discover my new and improved look. Thanks to Beth I have been enlightened about what my curls can do and how i can take care of my new look. I am extremely grateful to Beth for her haircutting/styling expertise and I am looking forward to my next visit to her in eight months or so!!!

Beth did an awful job on my hair. Worst hair cut I've ever received. She chopped entirely too much off the pieces of hair that frame my face; on the right side the hair is chin length for about 3-4 inches from the front of my head to the back, then sharply drops to shoulder length. A friend of mine (lovingly) told me it looks like I have a mullet on one side of my head. I could tell that Beth realized her mistake and was trying to fix it but the situation was already too far gone. Beth blamed her poor work on my "inconsistent" curl pattern. I am a long-time DevaCurl customer in NYC and have consistently received excellent cuts in the past without that seeming to be a problem. I was very disappointed and will not be returning.
