Beth did an awful job on my hair. Worst hair cut I've ever received. She chopped entirely too much off the pieces of hair that frame my face; on the right side the hair is chin length for about 3-4 inches from the front of my head to the back, then sharply drops to shoulder length. A friend of mine (lovingly) told me it looks like I have a mullet on one side of my head. I could tell that Beth realized her mistake and was trying to fix it but the situation was already too far gone. Beth blamed her poor work on my "inconsistent" curl pattern. I am a long-time DevaCurl customer in NYC and have consistently received excellent cuts in the past without that seeming to be a problem. I was very disappointed and will not be returning.
Direct, Practical and Highly Skilled
I have LOVED working with Elena for my hair this past year, and was heartbroken to find she had left Fiddleheads. She is excellent at cutting my curls into a great shape and also at listneing to what I want from my hair -- but also, and this is her true gift -- she offers her own advice and always is mindful of maintenance time and efforts. I wish I knew where she'd gone!
Vicky was my stylist. I have very tight curls. She gave me a fantastic cut and taught me how to take care of my hair. I learned that I really don’t need a lot of products. She told me also that she advises clients to find a good leave in conditioner and not to “marry” any particular product. I was very satisfied.
After a considerable amount of research into a salon and stylist close to DC trained in the devacurl method, I booked an appointment with Vicky for a devacut. My expectation was that I would receive a dry cut of each curl and be provided with some instruction on products and curly hair care. What I got was a basic hair cut and no instruction or conversation unless I was asking questions. I had to ask about what products Vicky recommended, what products she was using that day, etc. I left feeling underwhelmed and cheated out of a deva experience. I will say Vicky was very sweet, but she shrugged when asked about devacurl products and said I could use anything that worked for me. Hardly helpful for someone with long, transitioning hair who was looking to a trained specialist for advice. The male scheduler could have been nicer. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Fiddleheads if you're looking for a true devacut experience.
Unimpressive service. 35 minutes into my appointment, I was sat under the diffuser and My stylist Beth disappeared. After 25 minutes had passed, I walked downstairs and Beth was on her phone. I won't be returning and would not recommend.
Would recommend Beth!
I had a deva cut by Beth and I'm really impressed! She removed all the damage and brought my 2c waves back to life. It's worth noting that Fiddleheads isn't cheap--a cut with Beth cost me $100 + tip. But I think the results are worth it!
When I first moved to the DC area, I needed my curly hair cut and someone recommended Fiddleheads. I went and instead of cutting my hair curl by curl, they washed it. It was awful and I had to get a new cut the next week (it was right before a wedding and I couldn't go as a lampshade!).
had two cuts with the owner. first was good but not great. since they were referred by a friend I tried a second time. I waited 10 minutes outside as the owner was late opening the shop. the cut was awful - pieces sticking up everywhere.
When I first moved to Washington DC I was recommended to go here for my curly hair cuts. I had 3 haircuts over time and each experience was only ok and did not follow the devacurl.com technique as they stretched out my curls when cutting. I ended up switching to another salon because I was thoroughly unimpressed by the haircuts I received.
Fiddleheads is the go to place for curly girls
Beth and her team know how to cut and care for our curls. A laid back, funky salon in the rush of downtown DC, Fiddleheads is an oasis for all things curly I have 2c/3a hair type.
Curly Girls, Rejoice!
I am an older gal who has been fighting my thick 2C curls my entire life -- until I found Beth at Fiddleheads! Beth showed me the Deva system for creating and maintaining a professional curly look for my law practice. If you live anywhere in the DC Metro area, it is well worth the trip downtown to get your curly locks pampered at Fiddleheads!
