After reading two five star reviews, I was more than thrilled to book Ellen for my first DevaCut. What I got was absolutely NOT a DevaCut. Sparing the horrifying details (hot water, towel dry, no leave-in product), I’ll simply say Ellen cut my hair while wet, claimed my hair wasn’t “actually curly” (I walked in with beautiful curls), and proceeded to use a curling iron on my hair without any product to protect from heat damage. I was absolutely mortified with the final result. I will never see Ellen for DevaCut again and will encourage others to go elsewhere.
My hair looks and feels amazing after being cut (sculpted) by Ellen. I have thick, coarse, wavy to slightly curly hair with damage caused by highlighting and heat styling. After my deva cut, my hair is bouncier, curlier, and feels healthier than before. Ellen shared hair care and styling tips, as well as product recommendations for my hair type. I will definitely see Ellen for my next deva cut.
I was pretty nervous about getting a haircut because I have never had one in my life. I am African-American and I was also worried about going to a salon in Easthampton, where they likely don't work on many African-Americans because there aren't a lot in the area. Before going I called the salon and spoke with the owner, who was super sweet and answered all of my questions. I made an appointment and had a consultation with Ellen. After the consultation I felt great about Ellen. She clearly understood curly hair, race/texture didn't matter. She cut my hair and styled it, and answered all of my crazy questions. I had an awesome experience and will ONLY go to this salon for my Deva Cuts from here on out. Highly recommend!
