If you want to keep your hair - do not go!

I'm generally not the type that leaves a review, however, I felt it was necessary in this situation as I rely heavily on reviews when it comes to picking a new hair stylist. First let me start by saying that she was very friendly. The salon that Starresha is currently working out of is a shared space with several stylists & at a different location than what is listed. Because of covid precautions, she asked me to text her upon my arrival and wait on the front steps of the building until she let me in. She responded back to my text saying she was running late, so despite the 40 degree weather, I was stuck waiting for her in the cold for 25 minutes. I will say that she later reduced her fee slightly for the inconvenience of waiting. Once I got into the chair I told her that I didn't want to cut more than 1 in off the length of my hair. Because I had bangs that were growing out, she tried to pressure me into cutting more to even out the bangs. I was firm and told her that I'd rather take baby steps and have my hair cut more frequently than chop it all at once. Over the last several years I have had a very difficult time growing my hair due to an undiagnosed thyroid condition. I recently had started taking medication and finally was seeing significant growth. In fact, my hair was the longest that it had ever been reaching my mid to lower back while curly. She started off cutting into the top layers and then worked her way down to the length layers. In one single chop she cut off close to 4 inches. Then as she was evening that out, she cut off another 2 inches. By the time I left, my hair had been cut to the length of my chin - the same length as my bangs that had grown out. I proceed to tell her that she cut roughly 5 inches more than I had agreed to but at that point there wasn't much I could do. We go to wash my hair, and she begins brushing my hair with the shampoo still in. I politely ask her not to brush my hair and explain to her my health condition and that until recently my hair had been falling out. I was concerned that brushing it with shampoo would cause further damage. I personally rarely use a brush on my hair and when I do it is only with a deep conditioner. She goes on to tell me to 'relax' that she has been doing this for a long time and that my hair was healthy enough to handle it. At that point I should have gotten up and left, but afraid of being rude, I stayed. She continues to to condition and then diffuse my hair. Once my hair was dry, she looked it over and sent me on my way without checking to see if the cut was even, etc. Despite just paying $200+ for my hair, I ended up having to re-cut my hair because there were no layers. She cut it all one length with no shape - the exact opposite of what a Deva Cut is. Needless to say, this was the worst and most expensive haircut that I have ever received!!

DevaCut Failure but great with product recommendations

Starresha is very personable. Her boutique shop caters to her personal style in music. I expected a relaxing environment, but that wasn’t the case. I will also positively say that she can definitely recommend the best DEVA products based on your hair type. However, she can not execute the DevaCut. My hair is horribly uneven. The best I can do is allow my hair to grow out and then evenly cut it in a few months. My best advice just go to her for the product recommendations.

She's one of the best out here!!!

Starresha is the best! I haven't been to her new salon yet but I used to always go to the curls n company salon she used to work! She is amazing! She also helped me through my "starting curly process!" She gave me so many tips and advice each time I went! She always took time helping me find the right color and pintura highlights I wanted! I always walked out very contented with her work! I'm yet to visit her salon and can't wait because nobody else will touch these curls the way she do!
