Marie Cesar is amazing! I'm a guy with 3b hair just past my shoulders. Having long hair is relatively new to me, and getting "real" haircuts is even newer. For me, the expertise Marie has is an absolute necessity. She tells me everything she's doing and using, and makes sure I know exactly how to do it on my own at home. She is definitely one of a kind. Yes, it is expensive, and the Deva Cuts take a long time (2ish hours); but they have to cut, wash, style, dry, and cut again. For my hair, the drying alone takes 30+ minutes. To me, that is a good thing. What you are paying for is the time of a true expert. All those hours, and those pricey products (which they use very generously when they style you) to me, justifies the price. Oh, and it definitely helps that the place is always filled with laughter and kindness. I look forward to my time there.

I found, no stumbled into, the Madu Salon via a Bloomspot 50% coupon way back when...my first DevaCut was done by Latasha and as they say: The rest is history!! I never had another hairstylist for many years in SF. She cut and styled my hair like no one before her. Most impressive is her ability to cut a DevaCut!! Months later my hair always was looking great. She taught me how to style it with the Deva products, never went back to any other line of products. And last, but most certainly not least, Marie, the owner, runs the salon like a good old beauty parlor, always laughter and great conversations!!! Now I have to find a new stylist in NYC and hope she/he will be as great as Latasha is.
