I have coily / curly hair and was apprehensive about going to a shop that appeared to not specialize in my hair type. Well, based on the reviews and the level of certification Lauren Best had, I took a chance and set an appointment with her. I can truly say that I had a pleasant experience. She was very knowledgeable and personable, which was a great plus for me. I got a curly trim / cut, which provided shape to my hair. Yes!!! The products used (not Deva Curl) did not agree with my hair (my curls were not as defined as I am use to seeing with a bit of product buildup), so this was the only downside for me. Nonetheless, when I shampooed my hair days later, my hair cut was very nice, allowing my coils / curls to fall beautifully. Thank you, Lauren!

Around 2 yrs ago, Lauren took care of my curly hair, and my daughter's, both with curly hair. She did an amazing job on all of us using the Deva cut. The only reason I didn't go back was the location, around half hour or more for me. But am seriously considering to go back to her!!! She's excellent....

Lauren was running late. I was excited and prepared for an individual curl cut. While she took time to assess my hair , it was not as expected. My cut was dry, but done in sections. When I went back to the sink she did a deep condition without asking me. My hair is fine, highly porous, dense, 3A curly hair. Due to Lauren running late, she used the diffuser on high heat. Not good. My scalp was burned . While she did blend my layers in the back my hair was left limp and wavy. I do use the products, and it is still a journey. I have managed to bring out the curl with more definition . I will not give up on finding someone who has chosen to use the dry cutting method.

The Deva curl method was not used on me. I was disappointed with the final results. I had a deep conditioner applied as well as other products. It left my 3a fine ,dense, highly porous hair very limp with just a wave. Lauren did blend the back well and since home, I use the LOC method with the dev curl products: Low poo One conditioner Believe in gel and styling creme finished with a tiny amount of Mirror curl.

I was really tired of my hair having zero shape.. it was just "blah." I had always heard that you should cut curly hair dry, yet every haircut I ever got, it was cut when wet. It left me with a terrible, uneven shape. I found Lauren by searching for a stylist on the Devacurl website.. then I moved for those reviews to Yelp reviews.. and talked to friends.. turned out a friend of a friend had actually had her hair cut by Lauren and absolutely loved it. I was definitely nervous but decided to give it a try. Lauren far EXCEEDED my expectation.. the salon as a whole did. Fantastic greeting, warm welcome, and then there was Lauren.. she didn't just start doing her thing.. she talked to me about my hair, asked questions and then made suggestions. I really appreciated that she walked me through what she was doing and really taught me the proper way to wash, condition, style and even diffuse my hair. The final product was crazy.. I could not believe that I was looking at my hair. The curls looks much healthier, a frizzless head of hair, beautiful shape and bounce.. I seriously didn't recognize my reflection! I know understand that you can't just go anywhere for a cut and that Lauren is a true master of curly hair. I will definitely go back... give her a shot... you won't regret it!
