This was my first devacut and first time with Kelly. Could not be more pleased with both. Great customer service! Kelly explained everything she was doing and gave me tips to get the same look at home. The technique was great. I’ve never been so pleased with a cut for my 3C curls. Highly recommend. Also I thought the price was totally reasonable.

I had a great experience with Kelly! I came in and explained my current process with my hair (which after years of not knowing how to deal with, looked more like light waves than curls). I had never received a Devacut before and was unsure what to expect. Kelly asked lots of questions to understand my current process and hair goals. During my haircut, she gave me tips I can incorporate in my daily routine and thoroughly explained what she was doing and why. I was worried she’d run late or skip steps because I have such thick hair, but she never once made me feel like we were rushed. She sent me a cheat sheet right away, and I left the hair appointment extremely happy and with actual healthy looking curls! I’m excited to incorporate what I’ve learned in my normal routine and plan on coming back to Kelly (although I live two hours away!)

I saw Kelly Hightower for a DevaCurl Haircut and Color. Never in my 27 years of going to a stylist, ever have I left and wanted to cry before. Even when someone had cut off too much of my hair at least I still left having a good experience. This was the WORST experience EVER! Her customer service is terrible! I have never met this girl before, she seemed annoyed with me from the moment I walked through the door. The whole time I was there she seemed rushed and annoyed that I was asking questions. I'm spending over $300 with you, its my 1st time ever with you, I don't know your service, of course I will ask as many questions as necessary. I was never once rude to her. I was trying my hardest to be nice to her thinking maybe she was having an off day. At one point, the product was burning my scalp (which has never happened before) and she showed no compassion what so ever. Just kept repeating," I can rinse you if you want" I had to ask her if she just pat the area for me...finally she did and it helped. Just her whole attitude towards me had me dumbfounded. I have been to a couple of DevaCurl Specialist in Las Vegas and Austin. They both were identical with their cuts and style. How she styled my hair was completely different. She used the pins completely different and I left with my hair not as curly and frizzy. I had to re-wet my hair when I got home and style it myself. Not once did she explain anything she was doing or showed how to use the pins. Up to now I still haven't received a cheat sheet, she said she was going to send me. I showed her 2 photos of what I wanted and my hair looks nothing like what she said it will look like. I will attach the photos here if I can to compare for yourself. Instead I have a brownish color that I hate. She also did these thin highlights going all the way to my roots. In the photo you can clearly see that I wanted the color in bigger patches and start from the middle to the ends and have my roots are darker. The photo of what she did shows something completely different. My appointment was till 3pm. She totally made me feel rushed and she was ready for me to leave. I did mention about my hair being darker and she said something like I couldn't do darker if we are going to lightened next time. I was confused and said ok it's fine. (Which makes no sense because I want dark roots (which I don't want lightened) and with Magenta at the ends. (A photo of my hair previously I showed her) Still trying to tip toe around how she made me feel, I asked her questions about next time and the color for next time. Guess her next appointment turned up and she totally rushed me off at 2:37pm. I did pay her and even tipped her. I am genuinely a nice person and have been in the hospitality service for years so I paid and even tipped. Knowing her return policy is you have a week to let her know about alterations, I didn't feel comfortable expressing to her at that time with people there waiting and how she made me feel. I got to my car and saw my hair in the sunlight and wanted to cry. Before I could even get home to message her about my concerns and wanting alterations, she beat me to the punch. She messages me in less than 30mins after I left, saying she doesn't think she is the right stylist for me and hope I understand. I was not mad at all cause I totally agree with her. So since she won't be doing alterations which is in her return policy, I expressed my concerns and asked for a refund. She is refusing to issue me my $358.80 refund. She is saying that I said it was ok in the salon. Her policy doesn't say, you need to say something in the salon before you leave. It's says you have a week. She is back and forth telling me that she did everything I asked which clearly she didn't which is shown in the photos and that I'm only asking for a refund because she said said was the right stylist for me. I agree with her and since she isn't fixing anything she just needs to do what is right. This isn't personal. She is unprofessional, inexperience and not honoring her return policy!

This is the first curly cut I've ever had and Kelly did a fantastic job. She listened to my concerns and routines, then offered advice and suggestions on what would work best for my particular curl pattern and texture. The cut looks amazing and she was very knowledgeable about teaching me how to maintain my curls. I highly recommend her for a curly cut!
