After a decade of struggling with my daughter's hair...

Dianne is a curl scientist who is obsessed with the science and the art of curly hair. As someone who has straight hair and somehow birthed a curly girl, her information is invaluable! If you are looking for life changing curl information and an understanding of how curly hair works , Diane is your stylist. It took me a decade to find Diane and I would travel the earth to have her cut my daughter's hair. She is a master curl stylist and Lord knows I have tried every single stylist and harassed curly girls on the street in an effort to find a stylist who understands the art of the curl. Diane's knowledge and compassion is truly priceless.

Game Changer!

I was a little nervous coming into my appointment but the moment I sat in the chair I knew I was in good hands. Dianne is knowledgeable, patient and funny! In the past year I made the decision to embrace my curls though I was still straightening my hair on occasion I knew getting a devacut would be the final step in embracing my curls 100% I did a lot of research and found Dianne and I am so happy I did. Never in my life have I left a salon with my curls and been happy with how it looked (typically it was soaking wet because the stylist had another client waiting or it was insanely frizzy from the stylist quickly trying to blowdry it) so I’d run home wash my hair and style it myself before i knew if I liked my cut. With Dianne I left with gorgeous curls and the biggest smile on my face. She listened to what I wanted and made sure I was comfortable vocalizing if I thought my bangs needed to be shorter or thicker etc. At times she would stop mid sentence and fall silent in thought then would quickly explain why she was quiet (learning/ anticipating your curls!) then pick up in conversation. I feel like she has been misunderstood in the past for this which is a shame. Cutting hair isn’t easy. Cutting curls is even harder and I appreciated the moments she took to concentrate. Overall I recommend Dianne and trust her completely with my hair. I have never loved my curls until she cut my hair. From one curly girl to another: do yourself a favor and invest in yourself. You will not regret it.

My vision brought to life by her

Sondra B.|February 8, 2018
I had my first DevaCut with Dianne four days ago. I had got the impression from her website that she would be reserved, aloof, and possibly a bit cold but I was willing to deal with that in order to get a good cut that would remove all the style-less, damaged hair and replace it with a stylish, shiny, more polished look. I was pleasantly surprised how warm and personable Dianne was. The first thing she asked me was "Do you have to use the bathroom?" I appreciate that because I had driven a bit from Marin county and did need to use the bathroom. It was very thoughtful of her! I expected her perhaps to not engage with me because I had read on her website that she "actually prefers to withhold conversation so she can give her job her full attention"(or something to that effect) but she struck up a conversation. I was thrilled and started jabbering on a little too much(as I have a tendency to do). When she told me what I was saying was interesting but she wanted to focus on cutting my hair and stop talking, I remebered what I read on her website and knew that was wise. I trusted her right off the bat. She made me feel comfortable, she was completely professional. Another thing I liked was that she answered the million dollar question I'd been asking myself..."What hair type do I have?" Now I know I have type 2c/3a. The cut turned out great. It's like she jumped in my head, grabbed the vision I had for myself, and brought it to life. Bravo! The best part was that she didn't try to sell me any products. I thought she would based off what I read on her website but she didn't. She actually gave me some clips and a spiral hair tie. Not only was the cut good, so was the experience! Don't you guys think I look better without my halo? I'd refer Dianne to any curly for sure!

More than a Cut

Dianne is very serious about her craft. She spends a lot of time with clients, gets to know your hair like no one has probably ever thought about your hair before, and considers educating her clients to be part of the service. Figuring out your hair is an exciting challenge to her. She's not just getting it done. The first visit, she has a lot of questions and expects you to come prepared. She does have a number of "rules" and she is not a flattering touchy-feely person, so if you're looking for that this isn't the place. This is however the place if you want someone to figure out your impossible hair that hasn't cooperated for decades. After my first cut, I lost count of how many people commented on my gorgeous curls. Women came out of the woodwork "confessing" that they had curly hair that they had been straightening and smoothing for years, asking me where I got mine cut. She is expensive. Paying more for a cut twice a year doesn't feel as wasteful to me as the many many cuts I have paid for over the years that didn't work. They were always hit or miss, and when it worked the stylist could never replicate it. That was throwing money out the door. This has been an investment in feeling good every day. Dividing the cost of a cut across the number of days per year that I wear my hair, it is a pretty low investment in feeling great. My hair is much more consistent and predictable and manageable, looks great, I get complimented on it, and Dianne's mastery of my hair evolves each time as she gets more information and data points.
