Stylists at this salon
I’ve been getting Deva cuts for many years, at both the SoHo and Westchester locations. This didn’t even come close. Flat on top, triangle shaped nonsense. No understanding that you can have more than one type of curl. I thought maybe it was a fluke, gave her the benefit of the doubt, and made the mistake of going back. Never again.
Amanda is very good at her craft. She is very sweet and makes the experiences great. I always love my haircuts done by her.
Fabulous cuts and wonderful stylist
As someone who has had my hair butchered by plenty of hair dressers, I love that I can finally trust a hairdresser completely. I've been going to Amanda for almost two years and I always leave looking great and feeling great. Amanda always listens to what I want and gives input on what she thinks will look best on me-- and if you're not completely thrilled with your cut she'll squeeze you in to make sure it comes out the way you want. I've also been really happy with the pintura highlights I've gotten at Curly Girl. I love going to Amanda and given how far out she's booking, it seems like I'm not the only one!
One Stylist - Two Faces (Experiences)
Firstly, my review in no wise reflects my opinion of the DevaCurl brand, which I truly like. It saddens me; however, to have to post this review about Amanda Moshovetis. In a recent Seven Days (VT - 2016) article, Amanda was asked, "How do you keep curls sane?", part of her answer was "When (clients) leave, I print (clients) a custom 'curl-scription', which outlines all of the products I used, how much to use and how to use them." I patronized her establishment on Saturday, March 05, 2016 and spent $175.00 for services. I never received a "curl-scription" listing the products she used on my hair, though she mentioned the products to me verbally. Amanda also, very graciously, provided me with three (3) Olaplex #3 samples which worked very nicely on my hair. The reason why I posted this review is because I attempted to simply obtain the name of the brand of demi-color she used on my hair and she refused to provide this information to me. Amanda, in my communication via text with her in September 2016, made it very clear to me that I must "make another appointment" (translation: spend money) in order to obtain the information that she stated she freely provides to "all" of her customers in the recent Seven Days article. Amanda correctly stated in the recent Seven Days article that she is "really about cutting the hair in its natural state", which sadly, was to my detriment. I have afro-textured (course) hair. My type of hair requires one to prepare it by "blowing out" or "straightening" my natural curls to be evenly trimmed. Amanda, putting it politely, butchered my hair. I have posted a more detailed Yelp review along with pictures under 'Miss S". Interestingly, Amanda has yet to respond to my Yelp review. I am still puzzled as to why Amanda's demeanor changed toward me. Perhaps working with my texture of hair (African) has forced Amanda to work outside of her comfort zone. Nevertheless, the lesser (very dismissive) of the "two faces" she has shown me is the one that I am forced to accept as true of her character. It is my hope that Amanda will learn a valuable lesson from my posts and, ultimately, grow as a stylist. Thankfully, I have found other stylists in my area who are equally (if not more) talented whom I can (and will) support with my hard-earned money. I wish Amanda well.
I did have to wait a week or two to see Amanda but she is well worth the wait. Amanda is the only level 3 Deva curl expert in all of Vermont...which is exactly what I was looking for. I received the best haircut of my life and even though I now live 90 miles away from her salon....she has a customer for life! Thanks Amanda for helping me love my curls again :)
Love my cut! Love my color!!
I went to see Amanda for the first time yesterday. As a former Lori client, I was really concerned about finding the right person to do my hair. I finally found Amanda and she fit me in right before we left for the holidays. She took the time to get to know me, my hair, and what I wanted but couldn't quite explain. I left loving my color and my cut. I will definitely go back and highly recommend her to others. I will also be bringing my daughter here for her once-a-year cut. Yay!! We have a new Deva Curl hair architect!!
