I went to Bella for a DevaCut in April, before work and Charlene was my stylist. I have had many Deva cuts before, most recently by a regional educator. That being said even by those that weren’t educators I still had a wonderful experience. Charlene didn’t tell me what she was planning to do or ask me what I wanted just started cutting and talked the whole time about her life. Not explaining the cut at all or cutting curl by curl as I am used to. Then at the wash he didn’t even use Deva products! This was *almost* the worst part, as I get Deva cuts to be able to get a really good wash and detangle with the products. Before the appt I remember her asking me if I used Deva products regularly, I said no, but indicated I liked them. Maybe she took this as a reason to not use the products I was paying a *premium* price to have used on my hair? Another huge problem was she NEVER detangled my hair, not a comb, nothing! Which leads to after we get out of the bowl.. she is insisting the whole time I get a twist out. I have always done wash and gos after a Devacut because why not? So we get out of the wash, she keeps asking to do a twist out. I tell her I don’t have time to let it dry because I have to be in work in 30 minutes, but we can do a wash n go. Then I realize, she doesn’t know how to style black hair. Even though she is black. All she knows is twist outs AND my hair hasn’t even been detangled so that I could style it myself. At this point I was extremely upset because not only was this not at all the DevaCurl experience but I was about to pay more money to not even get a style. Since my hair wasn’t even detangled, I just had her slick it up into two buns, paid and left. The next few days after, since she didn’t detangle recently trimmed hair, I shed all the extra trimming that were not brushed out at the salon. I ended up calling the salon and speaking to the manager after the appt and getting my appointment partially refunded since I in no way shape or form left with a DevaCut. The manager encouraged me to come back and see Keith but I was over it at that point. Charlene needs some extra training on how to style out curly hair. It was a shame what I went through and hopefully this review will save someone else some grief.
