Not the educational expierience I was expecting

I hate that I'm having to leave a negative review but I was extremely disappointed in my recent Deva Transformation appointment. I learned about Deva cuts from my sister in law, who lives in a different city, who had an amazing experience learning about how to take care of her curls. My hair is wavy, not curly, so I wasn't sure if a Deva cut would work for me but after reading about it (and looking at transformations Tease posted on their facebook page), it seemed like it would be good for my waves. A little background on my hair, it was long, below my shoulders, thick, and bulky from layers that had grown out. It was time for my hair to be reshaped. I explained to Rosie on the phone that my hair is wavy on the day I wash it, then as each day passes, it gets straighter. I asked her if I needed to wash my hair before coming in, or if it would be ok to come in with my hair as it was. She said it was not necessary to wash it beforehand and that she could wash it first and access the curls. When I met Rosie and we discussed my hair, I explained that depending on the cut, my hair will either be wavy or straight. I was interested in actually embracing my waves and having a cut that brought out the waves. She asked me how committed I was to using Deva products. I said I didn't know because I've never used them before. That was the only time she talked about Deva hair products. She said that she would "rough" cut my hair dry, then wash and dry and then touch up afterwards. She proceeded in cutting my hair to my shoulders, then washed my hair. She applied products but never told me what she was applying. The only tip she gave me was to apply products on hair soaking wet. She put hair clips in my hair and said she needed to do it because my hair was so heavy. I expressed concern about how to style it at home without clips and she just assured me my hair would be fine styling at home and that I was there for the "full experience" so she was using clips. I sat under a dryer and when it was dry and I went back to the chair, she exclaimed how much curlier my hair was than she expected. It was shorter than we had talked about (now above my shoulders) and I wasn't sure what to think. I didn't learn anything about curly hair like I was expecting. My hair felt really sticky and stiff. I tried to ask some questions and she just told me that I would have to use products in my hair to keep it curly because it was heavy. One of my biggest frustrations with my hair is how to keep it wavy after styling it after washing. I wash my hair every 3-4 days and it is more straight than wavy by the time I need to wash it. So I asked how my cut will look straight since I was just told to expect my hair to not stay curled because of its weight. And she told me it would be fine because she gave me a half straight cut and a half Deva cut. SO I went in for the Devacut Transformation BUT that's not what I was given and I was not told until the very end of my appointment?!! In summery, I wanted to go to a stylist who understood wavy/curly hair. I was hoping for a cut and style that helped me embrace my curls instead of constantly fighting with them. The only thing I was told was that my hair was too heavy to hold them unless I used products on my hair...and yet I was never told which products to use...which was my understanding of what a Devacut Transformation was! Rosie spent the majority of her time talking to another stylist at the salon and from the two of them, I learned that some stylist wonder what would happen if a customer left without paying, that hair cutting shears can be financed for 24 months, the poses one stands in while getting a spray tan to avoid getting creases, and that there was an upcoming trip to Orlando that they needed to pack for. If you want to over pay for a haircut, and listed to stylists chit chat with one another, then maybe this is the salon for you. However, if you're wanting to actually learn about curly/wavy hair and want a cut that embraces your waves, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

One happy Curly Girl

I’m very particular about my hair and rarely left a salon happy with my curls (wonderful if my hair was straightened but not so wonderful curly). Rosie took the time to analyze my curls, learn about my routine, and lifestyle in order to make styling my hair easy for me at home. She explained every step of the Deva transformation and Deva Cut. I have been back for several maintenance cut and styles and leave happy every time. Now I no longer feel the need to rush home to wash and restyle my hair. Rosie rocks!!

I visited Tease for the first time this week, and Brandi was my stylist. She not only gave me a great hair cut, she also gave me lots of styling instruction to create great curls everyday. I already set my next appointment.

Best haircut i have ever got, however i did not know that until i went home and cowashed and restyled my hair. I was sent out with damp hair w a clip still in it. Who wants to walk thru a salon and outside with wet frizzy incomplete hair and go home to redo their hair they just paid to have styled? Devacut was amazing the 'tranformation' was not.

My daughter saw Ange for the Deva Transformation & DevaCut. Ange took time to learn about her curls, current routine & lifestyle before beginning. She then explained the why & how throughout the process. We've never seen a stylist crawl on the floor to apply product or to cut hair. This was such a different experience! A wonderful experience! Grace left feeling pampered & more confident about taking care of her curly hair. Thank you, Ange!
