Not a Deva Cut!
I wish I had read the other review before I visited the salon. This was not a Deva cut! 1\. How is the entire salon certified? When I asked the stylist laughed nervously and asked if I needed to see her certificate. 2\. As soon as I sat in her chair she started brushing my hair straight. I should have got up and left immediately. 3\. She pulled my curls out to their maximum length and then cut. This was basically a dry cut that I could have gotten from Great Clips. No offense to great clips, but I sought out a Deva stylist and paid for a Deva cut. Now I will try the salon in Lawrence.
Not a true Deva cut
Note that Gaia Salon no longer sells DevaCurl products. Although the Deva-inspired stylist at this Aveda salon cut my hair dry, it was not a Deva cut like I have had before elsewhere in which my curls were cut more or less individually based on the curl pattern. This haircut was fine if I hadn't been expecting a true Deva cut, but since the curls were trimmed without regard to where on the spirals the cuts were made, some of my curls flip up or out oddly now, just as often happens when my curly hair is wet, combed straight, and cut straight across and that I was trying to avoid by seeking out a Deva salon. I may as well have had a regular—and much cheaper—20-minute wet haircut.
