Not even a Devacut
They didn't even give me a Devacut. They wet my hair and cut it then. My hair was a lot shorter than what I wanted it to be and was a bit crooked. This is definitely not a real Devacut. Look somewhere else and save yourself. This salon closed however in Chinook Mall..
Why do they even advertise Devacut
I live on Vancouver Island and there is not a lot of placed that really know how to do a Devacurl hair cut here, so when I went to Calgary to visit my family I jumped on trying to find a place for Devacut. To say I was let down by Style Creations is a bit of an understatement. Most of the staff do not believe in Devacurl as a whole. I had Cathy booked to cut my hair. All seemed good until she said she would only cut my hair wet or damp. Never dry. This is not something I was used to hearing since when you do cut my hair wet or damp is almost always ruins my hair cut. She ended up passing me off to someone who was not Devacurl certified without even telling me what she was doing. Despite this other stylist telling me she knew what she was doing she did not achieve the results I was looking for and made my layers look wrong when they dried. I could go on about how wrong this haircut went, but I don't see a point. She wasn't certified, so I don't blame her for not knowing how to achieve what I expected. Here is why I am upset. The salon doesn't use Devacurl products when giving you a Devacurl haircut. They refuse to cut the hair the way they were trained to and do not educate on curl hair. They shouldn't be on this website. They are misleading do not go here for a Devacut. The salon was apologetic and did not charge me for the haircut and offered to send me to Ann at Ao-ta, but I was only in Calgary for a short period of time. I did not go for two reasons. One I need time to grow out my hair since to much was taken off to undergo fixing it and two I don't feel very trusting since it seems to be run by the same people. I want to give a bit of back story to show I have had amazing experiences with Devacurl. I was living in Edmonton and had my introduction to Devacurl through Hair Wizardry. They were absolutely amazing and let me embrace my natural curly hair. They are the reason I learned to love my hair again.
Anne did a great job for me! I was completely in love with my hair, shape and curls! Thank you so much!
I had spent a while looking for a Deva stylist, so was pleased to find this salon offering Devacuts during my visit to Calgary. However, I have to say I was disappointed. I have fairly long curly hair, which was badly in need of a shape, although I didn't want to lose too much length. The cut took approx 35mins, and seemed very precise. I then had a thorough wash and condition, with curly hair advice , which was a positive. My hair was then clipped and I was put under a dryer for approx 40mins (no offer of coffee or magazines!). When I was taken back to my chair I was surprised to see just how little of my hair was on the floor, hardly any had been cut off!! I could see some slight improvement afterwards, but a week later my hair looks just the same as before. The cut was not cheap, and I would have expected a little more from the whole experience. Sadly, not a salon I would recommend, so I will continue my search!
