Yessica revived my curls!
I avoided a haircut for years. I had very long and unhealthy, tangly curls. It seriously took an hour every day to untangle my hair. It was a broken mess that thinned out at the ends. I couldn’t live like that anymore! I took a chance and scheduled a cut with Yessica in July 2018 (FYI: different times of the day are more expensive than others—so ask them to schedule you on the cheaper side if $ is a concern). Yessica was so friendly, asked exactly what I wanted, and gave me her professional opinion. She cut it pretty short, but I was ready for it and my hair REALLY needed it! She gave me a wash after the cut and then styled it and gave me pointers. After a hair dry, she trimmed my hair wherever it needed touching up. I really appreciated Yessica’s professionlism and pointers. My hair is now so much curlier, softer, and tangle free (well, practically, cuz we know how curly hair is. Does it ever go away completely?) I will be back again to see her, for sure!
Left with flat limp curls and a below average cut
I was with Kaycee, one of the owners, who dry cut my hair then handed me off to her assistant to do the rest. They put a Morrocan oil mask on my hair instead of doing the traditional deva system. Then dried my hair off with paper towels.... the assistant left me to dry under the domes for nearly 45 minutes instead of using a blow dryer and diffuser like anyone who knows how to work with curly hair would do. I left with my hair flat on my scalp and limp curls everywhere else. I usually have fairly full curls, I have no clue what they did to make it look so terrible. I would never recommend this salon to anyone with curls.
Waves.. happily enhanced
Pryor has done an incredible job teaching me how to maximize my waves and properly take care of my hair.
Go See Jennifer...amazing!
The moment I walked into Dear Clark I felt welcomed. Jennifer was my stylist (she is a curly girl). My hair has been natural for about 1 year and this is my first time getting a DevaCut. Jennifer treated me like I've been her client for years. She erased all my doubts and fears I had about my hair!!! She was very informational about different ways of styling and taking care of my hair. My overall experienced was Superb. Highly recommend Jennifer!!!!! I will definitely return!
Kaycee and Madison did an amazing job with my hair. I will admit that I was a little nervous because this was my first DevaCut and I have kinky, curly hair but I immediately felt I was in good hands! Kaycee shaped my hair perfectly and Madison really explained the DevaCurl products and what works best for my curl pattern. Thanks so much Kaycee and Madison!! I will be returning!! If you're in the Dallas area, go to Dear Clark!! I had such a great experience!
Curly girl wowed!
I met with Sara Rice a few days ago for a devacurl cut and was thrilled with the results! I was even more thrilled that Sara spent the time to teach me the tips and tricks of her trade!
Wished for more interaction
Called Deva. Com to get a stylist. Dear Clarke, receptionist set me up with Yessica. Haircut looks cute, disappointed I had to ask all the questions, wasn't taught how to care for it. Where was teaching skills or explaining for a first time customer. I came in with wavy curly hair. My cousin in Calif gets this cut (over 7 yrs) was surprised there wasn't more talk about the cut, teaching me to care for my new Deva Hair cut. I like the shop & the number of Deva Cut stylist's. I will return, but would like more from a stylist like the two reviews above. When I get a good hairdresser for color & cut I stay - my last 5 yrs, 20 yrs, 10 yrs. only reason for change now is Because I went to letting my natural curls & waves go. Wanted the best. No curling irons or straighteners, anymore.
Devachan cut turned to traditional wet cut
I went last june 2017. Loved the cut by holly. So of course I made another appointment to see Holly. Went this past Saturday needing to reshape and cut some damage from my chin length bob (little past my chin). Left with a page boy bowl cut just to my ear lobes. Arrived at my apt time but wasn't seen for 30 minutes after my scheduled time while Holly finished up another client. Talked about saving as much as possible and just reshaping. Started with the traditional dry devachan cut. Holly reshaped for about 6 minutes and I loved the shape. Was feeling confident and happy. Holly then hands me over to her assistant for a wash and mask and says after the mask she will take another look and trim what needs to be trimmed. The assistant puts the mask on and I'm sat under the dryer for 45 minutes even though I protested the heat, the assistant insisted Holly knew what she was doing. My husband who was with me said Holly was doing a male cut and then he saw her eatting. So my "dryer" experience was really jist to provide a break for her. My hair literally got nothing from the dryer mask combo. Then still head full of thick mask because they piled it on so thick, holly combs my wet soggy hair flat and proceeds again to "trim" it... next thing I know I'm looking at all my hair on the floor and it littlerally while wet comes to my ear lobes. They sit my under the dryer again after rinsing out the mask for another 20 minutes. My hair is flat and my scalp is tender and not well defined from the assistant scrunching out all of the product with paper towels way too hard. Then holly preceeds to fluffy my hair and shake it trying to make the 3 inches i have left look longer. For $165 It wasn't what I wanted and I left very disappointed and on the verge of tears. I was so upset about my hair that my husband and I couldnt enjoy the rest of the day we had planned because I didnt want to be seen with the short frizzy fluffed out no curls fro. I just wanted to go home. We even stopped at walgreens to get a headband and scarf in hopes it would sort of help but it didnt. I will never go back to dear clark hair studio. I hate the cut and the service 100% and wish I wouldn't have just gone to a regular salon for a regular wet cut since that's how my service turned out. I can't believe I wasted that much money on such crap service. Yes the employees were all so nice and ooo-ing and aww-ing my cut once holly was done but it was a total fake appraisal, no one in their right mind would honestly believe it looked good. The salon is nice but be aware they will double and triple book so that u will be put in between other clients hoping from chair to bowl to dryer to chair to dryer. I arrived at noon and left at 2:11 while most of the time was me sitting and waiting or under the dryer or waiting at a wash bowl. Holly spent a total of 22 minutes with her hands on my hair between the two cuts and fluffing and talking to other clients. My husband literally clocked the time she spent on me because that is just they type of guy he is. Like I said, it was a horrible cut and now it's a waiting game for it to grow out to a length that I will be able to do anything with.
