Made an appointment with Darlene by phone. Was instructed to come in with no product on my hair. I have very curly hair 3c/3b. Show up and she takes me back to her little room and informs me she only knows how to cut wavy hair and she does not know how to cut very curly hair. "very loose curls" was the way she described it. Then she recommended me to another stylist in the same salon who can handle ethnic hair. But she offered to wash my hair and condition it. "No thank you" I replied and got outta there fast.

Darlene does not know how to care for curly hair at all. She also does not know DevaCurl protocol. Came in for a Devacut&she; suggested Ouidad products to hydrate, tried to comb my hair in the sink with a thin comb and knotted my hair in a matter of seconds.(I have no idea how) I decided to help and begin sectioning it out and combing with a paddle brush(Wet Brush) I had a knot less than size of a dime around my bangs I told her to cut vertically to release knot without cutting length.(in which no length was cut) then she tells me to relax she's almost got it detangled in the back, I feel a rip..never imagined in my wildest dreams that was the sound of her cutting a huge chunk of hair from the back of my head! She quickly told me to style my hair myself because I knew best and sent me on my way with nearly soaking hair. I put my hair up for work and did not notice the giant chunk that was missing until later that night when I actually try to style my freshly cut hair! I was in tears! It's very sad because people put their trust in stylists to use their best judgement and she clearly had no regard for me..it really showed why she's certified..just for the money, certainly not for the love of curly hair or preserving it. Still have not heard back from her about refund but I hope this doesn't happen to any other curly girl.
