Response to Kate
Thank you Kate for your review. I don't actually remember you and I looked on my books to see who you are but I could not find your name. I appreciate reviews. Sorry that you felt that I did not listen to you. If you were growing out your hair, I usually do not cut the hair down but do a trim. You can always cut more, but you can't replace it. What type of curl do you have? Perhaps this may jar my memory on who you are. Thank you. I do not use any sulfates whatsoever. I'm unsure of the product you mentioned with silicones. Best to always communicate via phone or in person. Feel free to call me. Jessica 805 341 5014
Response to "M"
Hi "M", I don't know exactly who you are to let you know that I would never tell someone that "they have a big butt". When I'm cutting someone's hair, I can't even see their butt when they are sitting down and under the cape . If I mentioned anything about the line or design of hair pointing to someone's butt to showcase it, that is my job to inform clients that their haircut could be like an arrow pointing to a particular feature, but I have occasional people who have a hard time fitting in the salon chair because of their size, but I never sexually harass anyone. Sorry that you could not talk to me about your misunderstanding of my professional expertise on line and design. I do have a variety of products as there are a lot of different types of hair other than yours. I try to accommodate all people and I love my curlies. Give me a call if you need to. 805 341 5014. Sorry that this forum won't allow me to post a response without rating my excellent services...
I think she might be good for someone who is unsure about their hair or just starting out with embracing their natural texture, and if they have a loose curl pattern. I was in need of a complete reshaping and she only gave me a trim, which quite honestly I could have done myself. I even showed her pictures of what I was asking for. I did bring this up to give her another chance but she didn't listen. She also used a product that had silicones even though I told her I have been sulfate and silicone free for years and did not want any products used on my hair that contained them. She was nice, friendly, but she is not the right fit for me in terms of who I'm looking for to cut my hair.
Not going back
Jessica gave me a cut that was uneven, which I know can sometimes happen with curly hair. But both times I went to her, she used so many products that my fine, low porosity, protein adverse hair was worse off afterward than before. In addition, she used and recommended products that had non-CG friendly ingredients in them. I ended up having her cut many inches off my hair the second time I went because it was in such bad shape I thought it was due to being too long. If I hadn't been steered in the wrong direction as far as products go, I might have been able to keep those inches! Jessica needs to learn more about CG friendly products in order to better assist her clients. Advising me to not get the shape of cut I wanted when I asked her to trim it, claiming it was because my rear was too large (I'm a size 6) for the hairstyle made me feel pretty lousy too. Donated all the products I bought when I figured out they were the cause of my limp and lifeless hair problems and fixed/trimmed her uneven cut by myself. Never went back.
I have visted the best of the best over my many years with this crazy curly hair, including the Jose Eber salon and others from back in the day. It got to the point where I was better at cutting my own hair until this. Truly took 40 years to find the right way to cut my curly hair. Now I will never go back! Jessica is even in on Sundays which is ideal for me. Love the work she does. In fact so much that I am calling for an appointment now!!!
SO knowledgable and So Awesome!!!
Met with Jessica for consultation as a new client. Her bio struck me as impressive and she has a beautiful head of curly hair. That's a start! She was SO knowledgable, patient and explained so much about how I could have been taking care of my curly hair all these years. I had read Lorainne Massey's book, "Curly Girl" years ago and knew there was a distinct method I should be using to care for my curls. I needed to be shown and feel so much more confident about caring for the hair I was born with. Thank you Jessica! I would highly recommend people in our area with naturally curly hair. She has been extensively trained in the care and maintenance of curls.
