Mary is Wonderful
I went at 10:30 on a whim to the shop to see if they had any openings. They had one at 11:30 with Mary so I decided to wait and give it a shot. I wound up being called up by 11:15 so that was the first good sign. Mary listen to what I wanted and started assessing where I was at. The last cut I got was a year ago, wet, by someone that had no idea what she was doing. Mary explained what her plan was and I was ready to go. We wound up talking about wedding planning since I had slushy gotten engaged and she was as well. This was the least awkward salon experience. She was super sweet and super efficient. As she washed my hair we talked about techniques and products, she used wave maker which I never would've thought for my 3b/c hair but it was great! She also used arc angel which I've never used before. I say under the dryer for a while and Mary brought me some tea, great touch. She then diffused and shook out my curls. I have never had a stylist that loved working with my kind of hair before. She was a delight, professional, and super fun to be around. She also does free bang touch ups so I'll for sure be back in the next few months. I have put off getting my hair cut since moving to Pittsburgh because I didn't trust anyone to do it right. I am so happy to have found Mary and cannot wait to go back!
Hooray for Kim!
I started going to Kim just a few months ago, and I am so glad I did! With every cut my hair looks better and better, as she "learns" my curls.
I went to get pintura highlights and a deva cut. The whole experience was GREAT!!! She took the time to listen to what I wanted and explained what and why she was doing everything along the way. Bonus was all the styling tips she gave me too!! Will absolutely be returning to Classic!
Won't be back
Unfortunately I did not receive a Deva Cut here, though that's I booked, what products she used, and definitely what I paid for. I told Mary I would like some length off my hair with some layers and what I got was a trim with a Deva Cut price. She brushed my hair out as she cut bluntly, which I have never received before during a Deva Cut--it's actually everything I hate about typical salons that don't have Deva stylists. This is my first experience with a Deva stylist in 7 years that cut my hair this way. Deva stylists are usually very meticulous in the methods they use to cut individual curls and have only ever brushed my hair out in the sink. Mary's demeanor was cold and I felt like I was the one making all the conversation because I was given short answers, with no reciprocation of pleasantries. I'm also very used to hair brushing, as we all are, but my scalp was screaming after I left, from so much pulling and use of a small comb on my curls. I'm giving 2 stars for coffee/tea I was offered, the cleanliness of the salon, and the fact that I didn't necessarily walk out of there in tears, but definitely confused.
