First Deva Cut
For the last several years, I went to the Aveda Institute for hair cuts because it was so cheap ($12), but because it was cut by students, it was always a toss up. Sometimes I would get amazing cuts and sometimes they were awful. The last one cut my hair way too short and I hadn't had a cut in 2 years because I was trying to grow it out. This time, I wanted to make sure to find a curly hair specialist. This was my first time getting a Devacut, and it was definitely better than a lot of the cuts I've gotten at the Aveda Institute over the years. Kalanit was my stylist, and she was very knowledgable about maintaining, washing, and styling curls and gave me some tips. I had a general idea of what I wanted but was open to other suggestions, which I told her. She did a good job with the cut itself. It wasn't too short, and I definitely have less frizz now and a much better shape. However, I wish she had done a bit more with the layers, but it was hard to tell at the time of the cut. I also asked for pintura highlights, but she did traditional foil highlights, which didn't turn out anything like I wanted. She said it was because my hair was so dark, she was afraid the pintura method wouldn't show up well enough and I could do it next time, but I kind of felt like she just didn't want to take the time to do the pintura since it was towards the end of the day. Now it looks very stripy and not natural at all, particularly when I wear it up. But when I wear it down, you can barely even see the highlights. I think I'll have to go back and get more highlights put in. So in all, the cut was better than average, but the highlights were sub-par. I'm not used to paying so much for a cut, but it looks like the prices were pretty reasonable compared to other salons I looked at. I paid $270 no including tip for cut + highlights.
Got my first ever DevaCut with Kalanit last May. Loved it although she didn't go through the entire method of explaining to me her process. Either way my hair came out great. Sad she doesn't work there anymore and a bit nervous to have anyone else touch me hair. It's a cute salon and not bad on the price!
Curly gals best friend
I go for Rae for my curly cut at Rae and Co and haven’t let anyone else cut my hair since. I can go 6 months without getting a cut and my hair continues to hold its shape, texture and bounce. She does just such a great job at listening to what I like, along with giving suggestions about what she thinks will work well for my hair type. She’s also been recommending some great products so when I do decide to style my hair at home, it looks just as good as when I leave the salon!
My first Devacut
My Stylist Kalanit was very very sweet and we connected. She helped me maintain my curls and told me what to do and what not to do as a curly girl. She was by far the best stylist I've had in a long time. I will be going back to her. Highly satisfied.
Very Very pleased!

( blow outs are amazing to)
I brought my very thick, very curly haired daughter to this salon based on the recommendations on this site and it's relative closeness to my home in Philadelphia. It was completely worth the trip! Rae was supportive of and encouraging to my daughter who has despaired of every having "nice" hair. Although she loves her curls she (and I!) had gotten discouraged after trying so many different products and still always dealing with tangles and frizz. Rae shaped her hair with minimal cutting (cuz of course my teenager wanted to keep the length), taught her a manageable Deva-curl routine and sent her off smiling ear to ear. She immediately took selfies and posted them to show off her "new" look. Rae also followed up with some supportive and informative e-mails. I highly recommend this salon. We had a great experience!
Jennifer did exactly what I asked her to do by giving my unkempt hair shape and making it look healthy without sacrificing my hard-won length. Plus she made me feel comfortable and gave me some great maintenance tips. Overall it was the best salon experience I've had.
DevaCut with Jennifer
I went to get my first haircut in 2 years after doing the big chop. I've been growing out my hair so I wanted to cut off as little as possible and Jennifer did just that. My hair looked the exact same length but healthier when she finished! And she's very friendly and sweet. 10/10.
Worth the trip for Philadelphians!
I live in Philadelphia, so it's a bit of a trip, but curly girls know that once you've found a stylist who just gets your curls, you never let her go. Kalanit will not let you or your curls down. She has cut my hair 3 times now and each time we go bolder with volume. She takes the time and care to make sure all my needs are met. Can't recommend this beauty enough! Plus everyone who works there is too sweet. Trust me, go here ;)
A curly girl's friend
I found Rae & Co. through the DevaCurl website and am thankful I did! I've traveled to NYC to have my hair cut at Devachan Salon in the past and was hoping to find a Deva certified stylist closer to home. Rae & Co. is only about 20 minutes from me and Jennifer has done an excellent job with my crazy hair. She's cut it twice now and the second time was even better than the first. She was able to coax more curls out of my hair and made some great recommendations for how to use DevaCurl products. The salon itself is very pleasant and conveniently located in downtown Ardmore. I highly recommend Jennifer.
Kalanit cuts my hair at Rae & Co., and she does a fabulous job. She has an artistic eye, and is good at listening to what I am looking for. I just got my hair cut again yesterday, and I love it. She is also good at showing me how to use the right products for my hair. I feel lucky to have found her.
