Great kids cut
Great kids cut with Erica, she took the time to make my daughter warm up, let her ask questions, move as much as possible and even braided her hair and gave her sparkles. Will be back!
Kim Is Incredibly Rude!
My daughter and I both got cuts at the same time. My daughter had Tracy who was warm, sweet and professional. I unfortunately had Kim who was one of the rudest people I’ve ever met! Her tone was sharp, she was incredibly brash and extremely unprofessional. She wouldn’t let me explain anything about my hair and made me feel extremely uncomfortable in the salon. My hair was so frizzy and undefined at the end of my appt. When the lady who checked me out asked how I liked my hair, I was polite but honest. She was very professional and said I shouldn’t leave unhappy and asked Kim if she could please bring more definition to my hair? Kim’s response was “Oh my god (in an annoyed tone of voice)!” Then she thrust a can of hairspray at the check out lady and said “Here! Just do whatever! Ugh!” Because of how horribly rude Kim is, we will never go back as long as she’s working there. I have convinced my curly haired friends not to go there either.
Great cut/Rude owner
Found this salon on Devacurl.com since I’m new to the area, but have been doing Deva for awhile. Great little salon, had a great cut and lesson from Erica. She was extremely busy with other clients, but took the time to awnser ALL my questions, without rushing me. Very satisfied, but unsure I will return because the owner is so rude. She was constantly rushing my stylist, belittling her, and talking rudely about her to other clients about her speed (which was slower because I was very inquisitive). Overall, happy client, but feel bad for the staff that they are treated so poorly.
Kim had been suggesting DevaCurl to me for years so i finally decided to give it a try. Kim set me up with Erica to give me a complete lesson on do's & don'ts. Not sure i understand the 1-star reviewer as everyone in the salon was friendly & helpful!! This salon has a wonderful, family atmosphere. Even though i'm not a pro like Kim & Erica, i'm loving my waves!!! Thank you Kim...i'm a no-poo girl!!!
Best salon for curly hair
Kim, Erica, and Tracy at the Frontenac Salon are the best stylists for cutting, coloring, and styling curly hair. They are professional, competent, and friendly. In addition, they manage appointments, phone calls, and schedules professionally. Equally important to me is the ambience in the salon. It's quiet--no loud rock music blaring--with a casual, social atmosphere. I've been to several other Deva stylists, but owner, Kim Wicks, and her staff are the best!
rude, insulting, belittling owner/stylist
Kim Wicks told me she was a certified Deva stylist. I was insulted, belittled and treated rudely by Kim. Because of this I will not return to Fontenac Salon and Spa in St Louis, MO. I have been using Deva products & the Curly Girl method and a Deva Curl Stylist for 10 years (stylist moved to Florida). I told Kim this right away. I wanted to tell her about my curls – type-cupid, spring factor, length I liked, concerns… Kim’s response; “You need to be quiet!” “You will learn something every time you come here.” I again tried to tell her not to cut it too short… response; “I don’t need you to be talking.” “You need to listen!” “Do you like my (Kim's) hair?” I said I did. “Then stop talking” Again I spoke to tell her my hair had not been colored since September… response; “I would NEVER have dyed it THAT COLOR!” I told her I was a natural strawberry blonde (I am 60) and this was faded red dye… I wanted her to know Loreal Inoa Color with Pintura highlights were used, but she interrupted me before I could finish; “I told you to be quiet and listen!” "I don't care about your color." Since I had so many orders to BE QUIET, I stopped talking. Kim proceeded to talk to her fellow employee about an outfit she (Kim) was to wear on a date, what shoes to wear, etc. while I SAT SILENT in her chair. “I am going to wash your hair” – “AND I NEVER WASH HAIR but I will wash yours.” After sitting under the dryer, returning to her chair she commented; “You need to work on your posture!” “You have terrible posture!” Results of my hair cut? Flat, dull and full of too much product, and very short, it was an okay Deva cut (I have had much better) but my hair was at least an inch shorter than I wanted because I wasn’t allowed to talk and she wouldn't let me tell her how long to leave it. Return to that salon? I think not. Okay cut or not, I don’t need to be treated with such disrespect and rudeness while getting a haircut.
I love my new look!
I have been coming to this salon for many years. Yesterday I went in and said I'm finally ready for something new. I had some ideas and Kim said "I know what you're thinking, let me do my thing." I absolutely love my new 'do'. She even took time to give me some new lessons and tips. Even though I've been doing the curly girl thing forever it was very helpful to be reminded of things I had been slacking on. Thanks Kim!!
I had finally given up on my curls and was in desperate need of professional help. Tracy was fantastic! It's been abut two weeks since I've seen her and I have gotten so many compliments on my rejuvenated curls! Even though I had heard of devacurl she explained my best beauty regimen to keep my curls looking fabulous everyday. I am so glad I found Tracy and have her in my corner!

I went from straight to curly!
I walked in with straight hair and came out with a head of curls. They took the time to get to know my curls. They did great on the cut and I appreciated the confidence and knowledge on everything from washing to drying to cutting and styling curly hair. I will be bringing my curly haired daughter in soon!
Great Place for Curly Girls!
So nice to walk into a home-y salon; no pretentious attitudes here! Kim takes great care of my curls, but you'd be in great hands with any of the stylists. Super friendly environment and affordable! Love the online appointment scheduling, too. Do yourself a favor and try Frontenac Salon & Spa!
Very sweet ladies!
