DevaCut Failure but great with product recommendations

Starresha is very personable. Her boutique shop caters to her personal style in music. I expected a relaxing environment, but that wasn’t the case. I will also positively say that she can definitely recommend the best DEVA products based on your hair type. However, she can not execute the DevaCut. My hair is horribly uneven. The best I can do is allow my hair to grow out and then evenly cut it in a few months. My best advice just go to her for the product recommendations.

Unprofessional, Unreliable

Star understands and styles type 4 hair very well. However, her attitude, customer service and professionalism negates that entirely. I was a long-time client of Star’s. Her customer service was not great from the first time I met her, but I figured she was young and still learning. From the first appointment, she proceeded to blast her former employer (another DevaCurl salon in Chicago), but I still continued to see her. I even referred business to her including free products from a popular haircare line and two good friends of mine. One friend decided not to see Star because of the attitude she got over the phone. I still kept her as my stylist, despite that. She then sent a rude email to all her clients this year telling them about her new booking policy, then quickly sent a follow-up email apologizing for her tone. The final straw was when I had an important event and tried to book her. I let her know about the event six weeks in advance and she said to book my appointment two weeks before. Well she ended up being booked that weekend and did not try to squeeze me in or communicate with me about how to get my hair styled. I ended up booking for another day, and even then, after reserving the date with my credit card, I got an automated response that she was unavailable at the time I booked. I texted and replied to the email to inquire about what happened. No response. I called and left a message the next day. No response. I finally DM’d her and left my number for her to call me and resolve any miscommunication. She proceeded to tell me DM’ing is unprofessional, Sunday’s are her workout days, she can’t be bothered on the weekends and that the friends I referred to her and the free products she got through my referral were because I valued her as my stylist. She said she never asked for my help. She then said I owed her an apology for judging her. She kept referring to negativity and the whole time I was thinking that she is making a simple situation that could be resolved with a phone call, into drawn out drama. I literally got chills reading her messages and wondered if she had a personality disorder. Long-story short, she said she no longer wanted to be my stylist and wished me the best of luck. That was after I told her I found someone to do my hair for the event, but was still open to her styling my hair at a later date. Save yourself the drama and find a stylist who has the maturity and foresight to communicate with clients and also retain them for future business.

Starr was amazing she was so personal and friendly! I went in for a DevaCut She taught me soo much about my hair and its porosity which I knew nothing about. She helped me as far as product recommendations. I had been using the stereotypical "natural" product which are not actually natural at all. I've tossed all my hair butters and I have been working on more deep conditioning and moisturizing. It has been just two weeks since I got my haircut and I love my curls! I still have a long way to go before my hair is healthy but will definitely be seeing Star again!
