Service Received: DevaCut

Price: $76-$125

I called in before scheduling an appointment, I was told that they are certified Deva Inspired Stylists. I explained my hair texture to the women on the phone. I am very hesitant to get Deva Cuts from Salons because I have very thick, heavily textured hair. They assured me that I would be taken care of. Upon arriving, the staff was very nice. I sat down with Laura and showed her photos of what I was looking for, this was my first ever "Deva Cut", so I had room to work with my shape. She then proceeded to tell me that the Quidad Slice and Cut would be better for me. I was hesitant because that is not what I wanted, but I went with it. She began to cut, but I didn\'t notice any difference in my shape. I also have sensitivity with Keratin (I did tell her this), but she used Keratin products on my hair. No Deva Curl products touched my hair, she did use Quidad products (wasn\'t impressed with them). And THEN IT WAS TIME TO DRY.. She used volume clips... why? I have no idea, I have enough hair for 6 people (no joke). I ended up paying a little over $100, including the tip. I walked out looking like a poodle, absolutely NO CURL DEFINITION. I don\'t think the stylist was experienced with my texture, she may have been good with other textures. Like previously mentioned, the staff was friendly (only reason for the one star). But, I will not be returning.

Brenda transformed my hair

I found Brenda at Rainbow Room through the devacurl website. She took time to assess my hair, gave it a fabulous devacurl cut, taught me how to wash and style my hair, and suggested products that have completely transformed my hair from a dried out, straightened, frizzy mess to gorgeous, healthy, defined curls. I have been back to her 3 times now (including for amazing highlights that work with curls). I finally found someone who helped me work with what nature gave me. I highly recommend Brenda and will definitely be back.

Not a Deva stylist!

Confirmed on the phone that she was deva trained and could cut dry. When I got there she told me she “could” cut dry but it won’t look good. They also have zero deva products at the salon and even though I continued to say that I didn’t want any silicones on my hair (as I have been silicone free for a year) she used all ouidad products, claiming they did not have silicones. Went home and looked them up and sure enough they ALL had silicones. She also argued/disagreed with me the whole time that deva isn’t the only way for curly hair, which I understand BUT don’t advertise yourself as a deva stylist then! I will NOT be going back!

Will not be going back.

I was super excited about my first cut in over a decade by a professional stylist...however when I got there my hair was immediately washed and cut began. Stylist did not ask how I normally wear it of what I would have liked to see from my haircut. I thought I was going to enhance my curls but rather was encouraged to use products not curly girl method friendly. I will not be going back. I think this will make me cut my own hair again.
