short version: Cut: 1/10 Style: 2/10 Customer service: 1/10 (you could get better @ a supercuts Cost: $275 (RIDICULOUS) Location: 10/10 gorgeous ocean view but you could just drive to the beach for that Would I ever recommend: that’s a hard no! long version: so I was SUPER excited to go in. Made my appt weeks in advance had watched YouTube videos of the deva cut, did a bunch of research, read all these reviews about how great Vicki was and “the best cut of my life”. I got there and waited 30 mins before even getting in the chair. The front lady was real sassy.. then got back and she cut my hair in less than 8 mins. Not listening to me or what I wanted.. she cut it soooo short RIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING. I showed her a picture of a gorgeous natural style that I wanted to my wedding day and she’s like yeah but your hair will never look like that Bc it’s not that curly .. I was like well not the exact hair bc clearly I can’t have the hair off that lady’s head but something similar and Vicky just kept like shaking her head almost if she were to say “what a stupid question you dumba** “ I was like okay I’ll just try to trust the process. Trying so hard to have a good attitude. So she cut my hair [supercuts/fantastic sams put in more effort] then I sat and her assistant did my shampoo//conditioner and put what felt like a gallon of gel in my hair then I sat under the dryer for over an hour. No one said a word to me or asked if I wanted water.. Vicki saw me for the “final check” or whatever then sent me on my way... but not before the charged me extra. My hair leaving was greasy and stiff it felt super heavy so home again home again to shower and wash out the gunk. I had to go to someone else to fix the disaster Vicky created for me a week before my wedding. Another $275 down the drain..

I was unable to see my stylist at Devachan, Broome St. before my trip to Laguna Beach. I stumbled upon this salon and fortunately I was able to get in with the owner, Vickie on a last minute cancellation. What a great experience, my haircut is as great if not better that my regular stylist back home. Same Deva experience with plenty of education. I was very pleased and loved the small town beach vibe. Highly recommend.

Poor haircut and poor service

I received the worst haircut of my life from Vicki at Curls on Top. There were minimal layers (despite constantly asking for more layers) and the layers on top were longer than all layers underneath. I asked for just under a chin-length cut and my hair was cut to my ear. Right after my hair was washed, I sat under the dryer for under an hour while Vicki cut someone else\'s hair, so my hair ended up being super flat. When I was finally able to get out from under the dryer, Vicki simply cut a few strands and rushed me out of the chair! There was no asking how did it look or if everything seemed right or even a "have a nice day"! I had to ask for more layers TWICE before I finally gave up. It felt like I was rushed the entire time and what I wanted wasn\'t taken into consideration. Now, I\'ve had multiple Devacuts before, so I know what to expect. And with the amount of money I payed, I expect Vicki to also style my hair and tell me what I was using. I had WAY too much product in my hair that I had to go home and shower right away and style my own hair because it looked greasy and stiff. Oh, and another red flag was that when I called to make an appointment and said I had 3A curls, the salon had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe this salon is better for curls closer to 3C (everyone had this curl pattern when I went in there), but after my haircut my curls went down to a 2B pattern. I needed to get a new cut less than two months after this Devacut because it looked so bad!

I like the cut but not the process

Vickie is talented and very sweet, I disagree with the other reviewers on here regarding her lack of talent and professionalism; I do, however, agree with the assembly line comments. I feel like I would really like for Vickie to style my hair, not the shampoo girl. I feel for what you pay, you should get the artist through the end, or at the very least asked if you have a preference.
