Worst haircut ever

After months of research, I decided to take the plunge. I obsessively read every Google, Facebook and Yelp review I could find, and finally chose Muse salon. My stylist was nice and friendly. I showed her 3-4 pics of what i wanted and we talked about my current routine. She sifted through my hair and started cutting. When she was finished, we went to the bowl where she washed my hair, and scrunched in cream and gel. She diffused my hair a little then stuck me under a dryer. When it was finally dry, she seemed surprised at the length (or lack thereof) and pulled down on my hair in an attempt to stretch it out. She then told me that she didn\'t expect my hair to shrink up as much as it did. I was speechless. First of all, my hair is wavy (type 2a/b) so how much shrinkage is really be possible? Secondly, my hair was cut dry. But let\'s just give the benefit of the doubt and say it did shrink up after being washed and dried. Wouldn\'t someone who\'s been trained and certified to work with
curly hair know that shrinkage is a possibility and therefore cut moderately to account for it? The entire reason I chose to get a devacut was because of the assurance it afforded me that my stylist would be knowledgeable and experienced in styling my type of textured hair. After it was all said and done, I lost 4 inches of length and now have pyramid shaped, chin-length hair. I look ridiculous. I cried the whole drive back home. The owner did apologize but let\'s be real, an apology doesn\'t put hair back on my head. If you want to call yourself a "curl specialist" and charge $69 for a haircut, then I expect you to be able to deliver.

Love my Curls

Kristen|March 5, 2018

I started following the Curly Girl method about 3 weeks ago and had super long and thick hair and decided to try a Diva cut. I am super paranoid about my hair as I have had bad haircuts in the past. After much research I decided to book with Kathy based on her experience and reviews.

Kathy was punctual and polite. She took her time explaining what she was doing and why. Granted, I had already researched and been following the CG method so most of it I already knew. She used Diva Products and commented about what they do while using them but the sales pitch wasn\'t hard like I was expecting. Unfortunately, my hair HATED the diva products and felt dry, stiff and super "product-y" after the styling. I left a little discouraged but after getting home and rewashing following my routine with my products I love the cut. My curls look and feel fabulous!

My advice is wait until you wash and follow your own routine if you don\'t like the way it looks or feels leaving the salon. I am sure Diva products work great for some but definitely not for me!

I will book again with Kathy but will bring my own products for her to use as my hair knows what it likes.

Happily Embracing My Curls

After researching the deva method for a year, considering a cut for 6 months, and stalking Kathy\'s reviews for 2 months - I finally decided to go in for a consultation. After getting a great feeling from the consultation, I made an appointment for a cut and my only regret is NOT SCHEDULING THE CUT SOONER!! I\'m an African-American woman with tight curls and I wasn\'t sure if this cut/this stylist/these products would work for me. But I haven\'t stopped smiling and raving about my experience since leaving the salon. I\'ve been on a roller coaster journey with my hair for the past few years and it took me a while to gain the confidence to embrace my natural curls. I\'m confident in my curls now and my appointment with Kathy elevated that even more. She\'s extremely knowledgeable about hair and caring for curls and didn\'t hesitate to share her knowledge with me. I\'ll be going back in 3 months and I can\'t wait to see how my curls continue to flourish.

2nd Cut at Muse Salon

I went to Muse Salon for the second time for my second devacut. I had Chrissy and she is a perfectionist! I’m really happy with the new shape of my hair and the new color. I saw many girls come through there and their hair also looked amazing, done by the other stylist in the salon. The stylist are good at matching your desired look. The salon is beautiful and they really know how to make you feel comfortable.
