When I first walked in and saw the blos dryers hanging from the ceiling, I realized I might have made a mistake in choosing this salon. They were all warm and friendly, which is what the rating is for - entirely. Very clean environment, fun, but I just can’t see how this is for curly girls and guys. I am mixed and have very thick, curly hair, and I don’t think they have the proper training for my hair type. My styling went like this: wash with decadence (good - that was the correct line for my texture and curl pattern), applied conditioner *sparingly* (problem!), and then rinsed it out (major problem, and actually not what is advised at all for curly hair, especially not hair as curly as mine). Then, she applied the gel *generously*, which wouldn’t have been so bad if she had used some sort of styling cream or leave-in to actually define my curls first. The end result? A lion’s mane - and not in the good way. I left looking worse than when I had arrived, and was glad I had no other plans for the night. In short, they were incredibly friendly and it was a pleasant environment, but I don’t think they’re trained well to handle curls (or maybe just not mine?). Their technique seemed better suited to wavy hair or loose curls. I had actually intended to get a DevaCut, but I kept quiet about it after seeing how my hair was styled. It was a very reasonable price, but I’d prefer to pay more for someone experienced with curls. I think perhaps I missed their Tier 2 stylist.
