Joe did a Deva Cut on my hair back in early May. I loved the cutting session. He asks you questions about your hair and provided good answers for my questions. Everyone in the salon was very nice. Here's where it wrong....I decided to get color. I picked out a color and one of his assistants took over once the cut was done. He never touched my hair again. The color I picked (reddish-brown) ended up being more brown than red. She did not use Deva Curl products but rather another brand they were promoting that "is just as good as Deva Curl". I had to ask firmly for her to use them. Then she used the Wavy something product which isn't good for my hair and set me under the dryer for about 45 minutes, never once checking on me. The curls shrunk up so much you could see my scalp. She kept trying to pull them "down" to no avail. He came over, made an attempt to pull the curls down (didn't work) took a picture of the back and sent me on my way. I HATED it and was very disappointed!!! I expect my hair to be done by the stylist I have an appointment with, NOT an assistant. Once I got home, I re-washed it, put the products in that I use and it was great. I will probably not go back.

I went to Joe at The Angels Salon after having a bad experience with my previous Deva stylist at a much closer salon. Joe took the time to answer all of my questions and actually gave me some useful and new information. Being someone who has been following the CG method and getting Deva cuts regularly for a couple of years ... I feel quite bored when the stylist tells me the same things over and over. Joe recommended a protein treatment in my hair and not only gave me these recommendations but explained the why behind them. The only con I would give about this experience was the salon itself needs updating, especially at the price point. But I would highly recommend Joe.

Friends of mine have gotten real Deva cuts and this was not it. My hair was fluffed out into an orb and then Joe Miguel just took his scissors and cut around the hair. Their was no love to each individual curl. I saw him do that on the person before me, but I had no way of knowing what type of cut she was getting. It was very disappointing. Also, he has an arrogance about him that I find off-putting. As for the salon itself, when I am paying $95 for a haircut I don't expect to look up and see water stained ceiling tiles. There was nothing glamorous or luxurious about this experience. Some pieces of my hair have been longer than the rest since he cut my hair. My hair is healthier now (which any cut could have done), and my curls have improved in their appearance, but those were the only positives.
