For years, I've done very little to my hair (getting my hair cut once a year, coloring my own hair), and it shows. I was finally at the stage in my life where I'm ready to start taking better care of my hair, so I did some research online and found Curl Sanctuary. I'm not gonna lie - initially, I balked at the price listed online for the 1st cut, but I wanted my hair to look decent for the holidays for once in my life, so I bit the bullet and booked an appointment. I liked how Jessica and Ana made sure to explain everything they were doing. Unfortunately, I'm too ADD to learn how to replicate their results from from them showing me just one time, so when I do my own hair at home, it doesn't look nearly as good as when they do it. I really do like the Deva Curl products they gave me (which was part of the cut cost); I never would have purchased them on my own, so I'm glad they showed me how to use the products, even if I can't replicate what they did. I also love the convenient location. If I had to criticize anything, I would say that my last appointment felt rushed. However, it was right before the COVID shutdown, so I can cut them some slack for that. I think everyone was like me, in a hurry to get her hair done before the salons were forced to shut down. I would also say that Jessica isn't necessarily the friendliest stylist I've ever had, but it doesn't bother me THAT much. I guess I'm just used to the stereotypical Chatty Kathy hairstylist.

I had thick curly hair that went down to my butt with some really curly pieces and others were almost straight. I wanted to go short and try out a Deva cut but was nervous to find someone who could actually do it and that I could trust. I did a lot of online research about Deva cuts with finding both horrifying stories of girls leaving the salon crying and others of girls who loved it. After all the research I thought it would be a good idea to try one out and see if my curls could get some life back. It was important to me to find someone I could trust. I found Jessica through DevaCurl with searching for a stylist. I loved that she was a level 3 so before even meeting her I felt comforted knowing I would be in good hands. Jessica sat down with me and we talked as to why I was there and what I was looking for. She asked about current products I use and my daily routine. She made a point to explain everything to me as to what she was doing. Anna explained all the details of how to wash my hair and style it in the shower. I have loved my curls and this cut gave them the life they needed. Over the first week after my hair cut people were saying how much they loved my hair and how curly it was. I liked how my new client price included some products and the cut. Overall, I would recommend a Deva cut and to get it done by Jessica!

Readers digest version: Curl Sanctuary is the perfect name for this place, because it truly is a refuge in which to reach curlcendece. Full story: I have shoulder length, fine, curly hair, that had suffered through the brunt of postpartum hair loss and a lot of regrowth fuzz along the hairline too. So it was stringy and dry at the ends, and frizzy at the top, and just generally unruly. Not chemically damaged but still kinda dry. After a bad experience elsewhere, I booked an appointment here. They were booked solid for a month, but I actually took that as a good sign (bad stylists don't have full books...) and took the first available. I left a note saying I was a bit anxious after issues elsewhere, but my hair was a mess and I desperately needed help. A few days after I booked Jessica called me to talk a little about what my concerns were and just really was just so sweet and put me at ease. Then, she asked me if I wanted to take an a appointment she had open up the next day. Score! Jessica cut my hair dry, which while new to me, makes total sense for curly hair. Now it makes sense why I've had so many uneven haircuts in my life. I love it, even before product, it looked amazing; healthy bouncy messy chic instead of the frazzled hag witch I walked in as. Then I was handed over to Anna for a cleanse and an education. So, usually when you get washed you lay back, enjoy the scalp massage and nice smelling products and then that's it. Not here! While yes, Anna gives a wonderful scalp massage with the cleanse and I thoroughly enjoyed it, that's not the best part. The best part is how she explains everything really well, so you can get the same results at home. I also enjoyed the squishy noises my properly wet hair made and fun names for techniques like noodling. It was fun. Not in a childish way, but in a way that amuses the inner child. After I got cleansed, conditioned, and gelled, i went under the dryer hood for a bit. This simulates air drying, just doesn't take five hours. After that Anna decrunchifed me and I went back to Jessica to trim up any curls that didn't shrink up evenly and double check everything and whoa. I have bouncy, defined, shiny, healthy looking curls. I could t be happier! I didn't even lose as much length as I expected to and that's a real big deal for someone who's been growing out their curls for three years. Their new client curl cut includes some products (awesome!), but I was so thrilled with the results I went straight for the liter sized bottles, and also booked my return appointment.
