Jen is absoulty amazing! she really knows her stuff is and funny. I'm glad I invested in a curly cut with her!
Even if she had cut my hair perfectly, which she didn’t, I would never go there again. Her “customer service” was horrible. I sat there while she made inappropriate jokes with her assistant and passed a cuss word every couple of minutes. No sense of professionalism. I walked out and cried in my car.
I went to The Curl Girl based on the fact that she is Deva Cut certified. I've had other Deva Cuts so I know the process. She DID NOT cut my hair curl by curl! She actually used a COMB through sections of my hair, pulling the curls straight, then cut the ends, like a traditional hair cut! Needless to say my hair was left completely choppy! For her to consider herself a curl expert I found it very odd that she didn't realize or anticipate that curls can (and often do) shrink/bounce/lay differently all throughout a head of curly hair; this is why the Deva Cut technique is so successful. I wear my hair curly everyday, have not straightened it in years. I've been extremely disappointed since this hair cut because my hair is choppy, uneven and has no shape (well if "curly mullet" is a shape then that's what I have!).
I attempted to make an appointment for my wife who has fine 3B/3C hair. To do so, you can only email. If you call, you will received a voice mail advising customers to email them. Upon emailing, I was sent a link to the website to properly instruct me on how to book an appointment vs simply explaining in the emailed response. (This happened twice). She then asked if I had sent pictures or selfies as required per their website instructions. In all honesty, I didn't feel comfortable sending selfies to a generic email without knowing if there was availability for the date I was requesting for her. Reluctantly, I sent selfies after a few email exchanges. After doing so, she tells me that she does not service my type of curls - although her site specifically states: 'Curly hair has many subcategories! I am currently accepting clients with medium or fine density curls, UP TO 3c. Those curl types and densities are where my experience and Expertise Provide the most amazing results!'I would not recommend just based on the lack of customer service alone. Based on the reviews here, we may have dodged a bullet. Good luck ladies!
Great experience and great cut. What I REALLY like is Jen is familar with and experienced in several techniques and also offers several choices in products. Curly girls know that one size does not fit all with us and she offers choices which I appreciate. She asked questions and LISTENED. If you are on the fence about cutting your hair and have never been to a curl specialist...do it...your curls will thank you!!
Best curly hair stylist I have EVER had! I have struggled with my curly hair for years. She showed me how to style my hair and the appropriate products to use and how to use them! My hair has been GORGEOUS since I started with her. I now bring my daughter, who also has curly hair, to get her hair cut and styled and I recommend her to everyone I see. Jennifer is extremely professional and I always get WAY more then what I paid for from my visits!!!
I wouldn't trust another soul with my hair other than Jennifer! My hair has never looked better.
i found jennifer on naturallycurly, and she's been cutting my hair for 3 years. she is very specific about what type of curls she works with on her website, had lots of pictures, and spent a ton of time with me detoxing my curls and showing me how to style them. I can get 3 solid days of pretty curls from one time styling it thanks to jennifer. also, i use some devacurl and some ouidad products, none of which contain silicone like the other review says (there's this thing called google, to easily verify that) and she explained so much about different products and what she thought would work for my hair and what i might not like. she has so many before and after pictures on her website. I have never loved my hair as much as i do now that i have the right mix of products and a great cut. also, she doesn't work with curl types above 3b, and if people don't follow the directions on her website, i can see why they would be unhappy if they show up for an appointment and she turns them away, but, that whole "actually reading" her website is pretty helpful.
i love jennifer, she made me love my curls for the first time in my life. i was shocked to see some of these reviews because her website is very clear about what kind of curls she works with. she has fantastic reviews on facebook - from real people, who have actually had a haircut from her.
Jennifer transformed my hair from a frizzy mess into hydrated, defined curls. She took the time to teach me how to do my hair with the right products for my unique hair needs. She's the only person I trust with my 3A curls!
I was transitioning at the time I booked my appointment around February or march. I saw so many good reviews on "Naturally Curly" and booked my first Devacut with her. Her booking website had so many rules I felt I was signing a contract, but I still booked my appointment. The day of my appointment I was calling the contact number on the website, but I only got voicemail. Thankfully, I found her place minutes before the appointment. So to get to the point, she washed my hair and removed all the build up I had, however, she used different products on my hair (Innersense, Devacurl, Ouidad) Please ladies be advised Ouidad products have SILICONE and this is not good for your hair! Once she styled may hair I thought I would get what I paid for, a Devacut. She asked me what I wanted and I told her I wanted all the relaxed processed hair cut, she proceeded to only do two small cuts of hairs and made my hair uneven! When I went home I still found parts of relaxed process hairs that she missed. I definitely do not recommend. Specially because 1) I asked for a Devacut and I did not get one and 2) she used products with silicone on my hair (I didn't know this until I searched the ingredients).
Went in to see her. So excited about this experience. I looked l. Her website before I went and was sure she could help me. Ummm.... I have 3c/4a hair she she had NO IDEA how to work with my type of curls. Other stylist that were passing by had to help her. She truley was clueless. She thought I had 4c hair
The WORSE experience EVER! Had to cut my hair significantly as a result of my visit. My hair has two different lengths, and for a curly girl that is the worst. There is very little flow through my hair when it comes to layers. Traveled all the way to California just to fix what was done. Awful! Would not recommend. The stylist here took one class and now wants to charge $100 for a DevaCut that she truly doesn't know how to do.
Bad costumer service. Called to get some information and they didn't give me any, just because I have to make an appointment. Forget about it! I'm not making any appointment in this place.
